We just got home from Kid Robot San Francisco where Frank Kozik was signing his toys. My house is full of Kozik Labbits and Mongers, so I packed some to get signed. I purchased the Kid Robot Mutant with Mutant Labbit while I was there to support the release of the new vinyl. I brought my 3 Labbits with mustaches for him to sign, because the Labbits are the classic Kozik toy. I discovered Kid Robot because of Frank Kozik. I really liked the Smorkin’ Labbits the first time I saw them, so I got a whole case. From there I found other KR artists and toys, like the Doppelgangers which are so fun. A friend of mine discovered Dunny and Munny after seeing my Labbits. Once again Kozik was the portal for him too. Kozik’s images are simple, recognizable everyday objects, taking a break, having a smoke, before they have shaved and put on their “public face”. We all feel this way one time or another, usually on Sunday mornings after a long Saturday night. Thanks Mr. Kozik for visiting us in the Bay Area.
