I attended Maryland Institute College of Art from 1982-86. I spent a lot of time in the jewelry department, but I wasn’t making jewelry. I learned how to raise chalice forms from flat sheets of copper, and I made sterling silver crystal wands. Baltimore has a great shop called Grandma’s Candle Shop on Saratoga Street. They put a lot of my crystal wands on consignment in their display case. I have always enjoyed having my work in magic stores and voodoo shops. Magic and the occult has always been a huge inspiration to me. I got all my grimoires, magic books, herbs, and roots at Grandma’s. I was in this magical supply shop more often than the artist supply store. I love all the witchy soap and candle labels and campy magical packaging. Comments
