Here are the painted Pivnik brothers. These hand cast urethane figurines were spray painted using Fusion for Plastic by Krylon, and then details hand painted using Testors model paint. Painting these plastic toys has been the most toxic part of making resin toys. The silicon mold and urethane don’t have any smell or fume that bothers me. The paints both have serious fumes to deal with. I spray paint outside, but I paint the details with model paint in the studio. I opened the doors and windows in my studio for lots of cross breeze. I admit I love the over spray look from the spray paint, all toys need over spray. I have also loved the perfect glossy enamel look that Testors paint has since I was a young kid making model cars. Fun stuff when used together. |

Painting Pivniks. Here I’ve begun the long process of painting some Pivnik figurines. This is the first step: Fusion spray paint. I like the over spray that I get from spray paint. Lots of little color dots. My collection of Godzilla and Kaiju figures have air brush and spray paint that looks so great on plastic. I like how fast and deliberate one must be to paint a small figure with spray paint. It’s exciting. When this layer of paint dries, I will add some detail paint so the teeth are big and white… yeah. I’m having fun. This story is to be continued ~ |

I made a little light box to display my clear figurines. I just stand them over the LED light in the stand and they glow like it’s Christmas. Here it is, the first Sweet Dick Pivnik Night Light. Much more soothing than it really should be. |

Bags O’ Toys!!! I have been playing with different ways to package and contain my plastic art. I didn’t want to create packaging that gets thrown away. Instead I came up with these printed cotton bags. Get it on ~ http://JEMTOY.com |
