Toy Art Gallery’s Resin Toy Show opens June 10th, 2011 and I have a few Gompers in the show. I’m making a few Podlings to bring with me to trade. My hope is that the other artists will bring a few toys to trade: art for art. I also hand cut a block print so that each Podling has a hand printed trading card. Here is what the Podling card looks like. I don’t sell Podlings because they are so much work. I keep them for trade only. I have to rotocast each Pod by hand, which means rotating the mold for 12-15 minutes until the resin cures hollow. You see, solid toys are easy, you just pour it full of resin and walk away while it gets hard. Hollow requires so much time and attention. I just turn up the tunes, and rock out while I make Pods one at a time. Bonkers. |

I really enjoy sketching with paper. Not sketching on paper… I mean making 3D objects, pop ups, paper toys, stuff like that. I get so many ideas from just cutting into paper and folding it into shapes. I start seeing things. My favorite part of the process is the discovery. The rest is simply execution. |

This is my 4 inch prototype for Electric Podling Munny toys. The hand cast clear plastic Podling fits inside Munny’s head. Podling’s face fits in the round window carved into Munny’s face. One foot has bottom removed for watch battery compartment made of silicone putty so it custom fits the space. Wires run up through neck into head. LED is installed in Munny’s head so Podling’s face lights up when button on Munny’s back is pushed. Here’s a video: http://jemoores.com/post/698823054 This Light Up Custom Munny is for sale at: http://JEMTOY.com |
